Living Room Artwork

As I’ve said in earlier posts. I am a DIYer. I love getting my hands dirty and learning new things. With that in mind I have decided to make a one of a kind art piece for our living room (with the help of my husband!) I have been researching Pinterest for some different artwork and I have narrowed it down to three options. So I need your help….Choice A, B or C?

Living Room Decor

We recently moved into a new home and my mind is running rampant trying to decide what décor I want in our home. I love decorating! You would think the blank slate would be easy to cover, but not so fast. In the world of Pinterest there are SOOOOO many ideas floating around out there it’s hard to pick just one! After 3 months of living here it is time to start somewhere and start making this house a home. Our walls are a gray/blue and I was having a hard time finding the perfect accent color that didn’t seem to childish. I have finally narrowed it down to….YELLOW! I don’t want tons of overwhelming yellow in the room but accents that will add to our mostly neutral pallet. Here are a few of my inspirations.

This might be a long process since there is a budget in place 😉 but I will get some pictures of the room up and start showing you the progress! Keep checking back and leave a comment!

What a Week!

Since coming home from the hospital on Monday afternoon I started my Monday evening off with a 5-night Vacation Bible School at our church! Talk about a busy week! We are doing the Group’s Kingdom Rock VBS and it has been a total blast all this week.  We have had over 30 kids every night!

VBS always takes a lot of time and effort to make it come together. It takes lots of helping hands to do some great DIY crafts. We made so many things from the backdrop to sconces that hang on the walls. Tonight is our last evening so I plan on revitalizing this weekend and then back at it with some DIY projects. I will show you some of the items we made for this week and how simple and easy they are to make. You can use them for a variety of events like birthday parties and of course VBS!

Talk to you in a few days!

An unexpected weekend…

Friday morning Selah (my 13 month old) and I got up for what we expected to be a regular work day. We drove the normal route to work, greeted grandma at the office and the work day started. Shortly after arriving the day changed. To make a long story short Selah was bit by her grandparents dog in the face. Off to the ER we go! The bite wasn’t too bad so they sent us home with instructions to wash three times and day and give her some antibiotics.

Saturday rolls around and we had planned to walk around our town square and spend the day looking around in shops and just enjoying a great day. I noticed that Selah’s cheek look infected. We decided to go back to the ER to have it checked out again. After arriving to the ER and having the doctor take a look they were sending us to a pediatric hospital.

After being admitted to the hospital Selah was put on two strong IV antibiotics and put into isolation due to the dog bite. After more than forty-eight hours we were discharged from the hospital and got to come home!

Selah is doing so much better now but whew that wasn’t the weekend we were looking forward to! So many prayers were coming our way and we thank everyone who sent them.

Did anyone else have a weekend that they didn’t expect?

A Place to Hop

Here’s to the first post of the new blog! Excited to be sharing life’s experiences and DIY projects with you. I’m hoping to share my journey of life and my grasshopper skills.

What is a grasshopper? Definition: One who bounces from thing to thing (definitely not the Webster’s dictionary definition).

My mom has called me a grasshopper for years. I love to learn new things and get my hands dirty. I’ve tried everything from knitting, to cake decorating, building furniture and more. The plan is to share my day to day life.

We moved into a new house a few months ago and I am trying to get it decorated to our style and making it into our home. We are on a budget as most families and we are trying to keep things cheap but beautiful. That is where DIY and Pinterest come in! Follow along and we will make some beautiful décor together.

Feel free to share your life experiences with me and even posts photos along the way. I hope this will be a great place for my family to look at and see how far we’ve come together but also a place for you to find tips, projects, and maybe even some useful advice.

Make sure to like us on Facebook, subscribe to the blog and stay tuned for our next post.
